Have you ever taken a trip where the unexpected is itself the essence of the trip?

Today we are talking about a misadventure that happened to the motorcycle traveler and member of the #interphonecrew, Sasaplanet. Indeed, it will be he who will tell you what he had to face during his trip to Mongolia.

"It is true starting on a solo adventure trip of 30 thousand km from Italy to Mongolia, where most of the km are off-road, the unexpected or rather the misadventure is always around the corner, especially if for a trip of this duration was chosen as the motorcycle, an old Yamaha SuperTénéré 750 from 1992, with already more than 70 thousand km.

But this time I want to focus more on the misadventure that happened to me rather than on the journey itself.
Well, after traveling thousands of kilometers on potholed roads in Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, on tracks devastated by the passage of huge trucks in Tajikistan on the Afghan border, it is in the Altai Mountains in Russia that I have had the most absurd breakup I have ever had. on a motorcycle.

But let's start from the beginning ... I had recently entered Russia arriving from Semej in Kazakhstan, to avoid a long motorway transfer to Novosibiski, from which I would then have to head south towards Olgij in Mongolia. I decide to make a cut on a dirt track in the Altai Mountains. Unfortunately, the track turns out to be much worse than what could be understood from the military maps I had purchased: sudden holes, canals, falling bridges."

"While I was listening to music thanks to my Interphone Tour motorcycle intercom and I was driving standing on the footpegs, I feel the umpteenth blow taken by the bike, initially I do not notice anything and continue driving, but the bike seems strange it starts not copying any more. roughness and making strange noises, so I slow down and sit down. Immediately the bike seems low and strange, the first sensation is as if the rear shock absorber has blown.

At this point I stop and looking at the bike I immediately notice that it is strangely lower in the rear area even if I can't immediately understand what happened, so I decide to start removing some plastic. And this is where I make a bitter discovery, I have incredibly literally opened the frame in two, on both sides, practically the bike is split in two, it stays together only thanks to the swingarm and the rear frame.

I'm in the middle of nowhere, more than 110km from the first city and the next few kilometers will all be on mostly unpaved roads full of holes, unfortunately, however, I don't have much left to do, so I decide to take the misadventure with a smile on my face, hang up the plastics and allotment, obviously with a much slower pace and trying to avoid where possible at least the biggest holes.

This is how in a whole day I travel the km that separate me from the small town of Kurai, then I find a mechanic to whom I ask to try to weld the bike, we begin to disassemble it and with immense amazement I must note that it is not the only point of the broken frame, at the end of the work we will count 7 points where we had to weld the frame of my Ténéré.

Having repaired the frame, I head south to the Mongolian border, where I pass without any problem, but unfortunately after just another 1000km traveled the Ténéré. starts to have other problems, this time with the ignition, day after day it becomes more and more difficult, until my proud steed falls silent in the city of Olgi in Mongolia, 3 days of attempts will not be enough, unfortunately for the Ténéré il the journey from Milan to Ulambator ends in the city of Olgi "
